Dr. Richard
Klein
Richard S. Klein, M.D. is a practicing
physician in Yorktown Heights, New York. He specializes in
Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. An Associate Professor
of Medicine, Dr. Klein teaches medical students at the New
York Medical College. An internationally renowned caregiver,
Dr. Klein has been knighted by the Italian government and
received medals and awards from the Israeli government. As
a young sailor, he was awarded lifesaving commendations for
his work as a field medic assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps.
He ran for the U.S. Congress from the New York 19th Congressional
District. At that time he met the President, Vice President
and most Democratic Representatives and Senators. During his
congressional race, he was endorsed by the New York Times
for his “immense sense of service and volunteerism to
the community at large.”
Dr. Klein was both the Westchester County Chairman of Israeli
Bonds as well as the UJA-Federation of Westchester. He volunteered
as a physician and worked in Israel during two wars, caring
for wounded Arab and Israeli soldiers. He presently serves
on the boards of a multitude of volunteer organizations serving
the community. He has served twenty years as the volunteer
fire surgeon for Yorktown Heights, New York, as well as Board
Member and Physician, for shelters for battered women and
children (My Sisters Place and the Northern Westchester Shelter).
Dr. Klein formed and currently chairs the Coalition of Italian
American Organizations of Northern Westchester and Putnam
Counties. He also donates an annual scholarship to the ‘Circolo
Da Vinci,’ an organization that promotes Italian heritage.
These gestures are a way of paying back to the Italian community
for affording him the opportunity to study medicine in Italy.
As an instrument rated aircraft pilot,
Dr. Klein has volunteered for Angel Flight, an organization
that flies cancer patients and their families, free of charge,
to distant treating hospitals. He is a second degree black
belt in Karate and recently sailed his 47’ Choy Lee,
‘DRSFAST,’ up and down the east coast and the
Caribbean. He is the author of ‘The Wine Tasters Album,’
and founded the Dr's. Fast diet system.
Dr. Klein has recently been appointed to serve on the Board
of the Westchester County Department of Health.
He lives with his wife, Caryn and their year and one half
year old son Matthew. He also has a ten year old step daughter,
Arianna, and all live in Somers, New York. He also has two
adult daughters. |
